Telstra is launching a new high-speed mobile Wi-Fi hotspot to enable Australians to connect multiple mobile devices to the internet when they’re on the go. The new Telstra Elite Mobile Wi-Fi – which arrives in-store for Pre-Paid customers on Tuesday 12 April – is Australia’s fastest battery-powered 3G mobile Wi-Fi device and allows people to share internet connectivity with up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously wherever there is Next G coverage.

Key Features:

Customers in capitals and many regional areas can access typical download speeds of 550kbps to 8Mbps and typical upload speeds of 300kbps to 3Mbps. In other areas speed ranges will be less. If multiple users access the device, the typical speed range per user may be reduced.

Wi-Fi 802.11b/g enabled.

Active battery life of up to 4 hours. Standby time up to 100 hours.

Charged on-the-go via a bundled USB cable connected to a laptop or via the AC charger.

MicroSD cards up to 32 GB and an external antenna (sold separately) are supported.

Warwick Bray, Executive Director Telstra Mobility Products said Australians increasingly use multiple mobile devices to stay informed, entertained and to work on the go.

“More than 4 million Australians now use mobile broadband to connect when commuting, to access Facebook at university, and to work flexibly out of the office. Our customers tell us they love the speed and reliability of Next G mobile broadband but they’ve said they’d like an easier way to share it with a greater range of Wi-Fi enabled devices including smartphones, tablets, cameras, laptops and portable games consoles.

“With the press of a button this mobile hotspot can connect up to five devices to the internet at speeds up to twice as fast as competitor 3G products in capitals and many regional areas. Customers can now avoid the hassle of having to find public hotspots by taking mobile Wi-Fi with them. We think they’re going to love how easy this device makes connecting their services,” he said.

The Telstra Elite Mobile Wi-Fi can be purchased on Pre-Paid, meaning there are no fixed term contracts or minimum monthly spend commitments. This makes it a great option for customers who require mobile broadband from time to time – for instance when travelling interstate or providing connectivity for the kids while on holiday.

“The Telstra Elite Mobile Wi-Fi should also prove popular with our business customers who increasingly use Wi-Fi enabled devices such as tablets and cameras and require mobile connectivity to support fast file transfers and to work flexibly while away from the office,” Mr Bray said.

The Telstra Elite Mobile Wi-Fi sports a compact, lightweight design and a handy OLED display which provides information such as signal strength, number of devices connected and battery level at a glance.

Pricing

Customers can purchase the Telstra Elite Pre-Paid Mobile Wi-Fi for $129 which comes with a generous 5GB of data to use in Australia with 90 days expiry. There is a range of Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband recharge allowances that start from $20 per recharge. More information:  www.telstra.com/ppmbb
