Samsung Confirms Galaxy S II

Samsung Galaxy S IIFollowing yesterday’s leak of the Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung has confirmed its specifications during its own keynote at Mobile World Congress. As expected, the Galaxy S II features its new Super AMOLED plus display technology inside the 4.27-inch display, quadband GSM/EDGE, quadband HSPA at 21Mbps, dual-core Exynos 1GHz processor, GPS, Wi-Fi N and FM radio with RDS support. It will also feature an 8.0 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture, auto-focus and flash.

The front facing camera is a 2.0 megapixel unit with no known resolution for video capture. DLNA for media sharing is also on board with a choice between 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage plus a microSD slot.

The Galaxy S II will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and includes a number of Samsung specific software, such as TouchWiz, Social Hub, Media Hub, Readers Hub, and Game Hub. Samsung has also added enterprise features, such as device encryption, Cisco VPN software, Sybase’s Afaria device manager, Cisco WebEx and Cisco’s VoIP application. It will also support NFC, but the feature will be left up to individual carriers to enable for specific applications.
