ViewSonic is making a serious play at mobile gadgets and, for now, their strategy appears to involve offering something other manufacturers aren’t. That's exactly what they're doing with the ViewSonic V350, a dual-SIM smartphone running Android 2.2.
Designed to support two active SIMs at the same time, the handset keeps you connected on both networks, allowing for very convenient use of your smartphone during travel. Unlike most dual SIM devices, it isn't poorly-stocked on the hardware end, either, packing a full roster of specs that should make it competitive with today's ever-growing range of Android phones.
Details of the ViewSonic V350 include a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 5.0 megapixel camera module, aGPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 and microSD card expansion. No word on whether it supports 3G broadband (we're guessing it doesn't, which kind of stymies my excitement just a tad).
From the sound of the press release, Viewsonic appears to be angling this at business users. Specifically, they're touting the fact that having a dual SIM phone will allow employees to keep separate SIMs -- one for personal use and another for business accounts.
Like many new phones coming out this year, the ViewSonic V350 is on hand at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. There's no word, however, on neither pricing nor release date.
