Apple iPad To Gain BBC iPlayer App

So it appears that the BBC may finally be getting round to releasing a BBC iPlayer app for the Apple iPad as apparently Geoff Marshall of the BBC has made an announcement that the iPlayer will be released for the Apple iPad.

According to an article over on The Next Web, Geoff Marshall announced via his Twitter account…” iPlayer App for iPad is being released this Thursday – 10th Feb. 3G connection is browse only. Browse+Playback requires Wi-Fi. #iplayer”

Apparently though there’s no word of if the BBC iPlayer app for the Apple iPad will work on the Apple tablet outside the United Kingdom, so it may be just for UK iOS users for the time being; however apparently the rumour is that a US version may see release sometime in June or possibly July and would apparently be subscription based.

Furthermore, Marshall also tweeted that there is a delay to releasing the audio portion of the iPlayer, UK Radio Player…” the UK Radio Player (radio portion of iPlayer replacement) was due to be launched this week, now put back until March, but …”

And if you are thinking that the BBC iPlayer app is for the iPhone as well, apparently this is not the case as Geoff tweeted…” @dracomjb @simon_harper @michaelstobo It’s UK only (USA to follow in June), iPad only (no iPhone version!), unsure about local downloads…”

So there it is BBC iPlayer fans you should be able to grab the BBC iPlayer app for your iPad to catch up with the BBC programs you might have missed as of Thursday the 10th.
