AT&T has officially confirmed in a press statement that it has approved the PlayBook Bridge application for the tablet after months of additional development in order to add code for tethering plan support at an additional $20 a month. The Bridge had been previously approved by Sprint and Verizon without additional changes in April. The application allows the PlayBook tablet to access the contacts and email data found on the BlackBerry along with allowing for web access. The application is available now as of 12:46 CST on BlackBerry App World for supported BlackBerry models.
Aside from the Bridge, RIM has confirmed that a native email client is being developed for the PlayBook in order to reduce dependence on the BlackBerry Bridge.
