HP has announced the launch of its branded HP DataPass service for select models of its recently refreshed business laptop line and requires the HP un2400 Gobi-based embedded modem for access.
What separates DataPass from other similar offerings is the fact that HP is actively leasing access to Sprint’s EVDO Rev. A network, but is not leasing access through Sprint proper, with third-party agent Peregrine Networks handling all of the billing and provisioning for the service in order to simplify the process for customers. The coverage area for HP DataPass mirrors the current coverage area for Sprint’s native data network, which means that data roaming is not available. Pricing for the service is set at the following rates:
$5/75MB/5 hours
$10/150MB/3 days
$20/450MB/14 days
$30/1GB/30 days
