Toshiba has announced a new 4 inch display designed for use in smartphones, and it will feature a 1280 x 720 resolution, which means it will be able to display HD video in 720p.
The new smartphone display features 367 pixels per inch, which is higher than Apple’s current Retina display which is used in the iPhone 4 and has 326 pixels per inch.
This new smartphone display also has a higher contrast ratio than the iPhone 4 Retina display, with the iPhone display coming in at 800:1 whilst Toshiba’s new display comes in at 1,500:1.
It certainly does sound very interesting, and who know we could actually see this new Toshiba display in future iPhone’s, although we suspect it wont be in the iPhone 5.
