Rugged and energy efficient
The advantages of SSDs have been well documented: They use semi-conductor flash memory chips to store data so, unlike hard disk drives, have no moving parts. This makes them more mechanically stable and far less prone to failure. Additionally they make no noise and use very little energy.
Extraordinary high transfer rates
The new USB 3.0 External SSD promises a low access time and very fast transfer of data. Traditional hard drives are literally “disk” drives; they must spin up at start-up and while processing data. With no disk to cue up, SSDs start and read data more quickly. For the Verbatim SSDs this means a reading speed of 150MB/sec and a writing speed of 60MB/sec for the 32GB device, 160MB/sec (reading) and 120MB/sec (writing) for the 64GB device, and 190MB/sec (reading) and 175MB/sec (writing) for the 128GB device. The drive also is compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 ports. Featuring a sleek yet rugged brushed aluminum exterior, the Verbatim USB 3.0 SSD includes a drawstring carry pouch for storing the device and a USB 3.0 cable.
