More Android and WP7 Smartphones Coming to AT&T

For Android and Windows Phone 7 device fans with AT&T, the words is you can expect more Android and Windows Phone 7 smartphones hitting AT&T in the coming months, with the first being a Windows Phone 7 ruggedised Pantech slider.

According to Phone Scoop by way of PC Mag, Jeff Bradley, senior VP of mobile devices for AT&T says that the Pantech slider will be followed by a “nice, large-screen side-sliding Android device; it’s an area we need to address.”

Bradley further stated that the Pantech slider is a “cool little device; it looks a little like a [Casio] G-Shock … a little bit more outdoors, and it’s more durable than a classic side-slider.”

Apparently AT&T Windows Phone 7 devices are doing well, and the company is looking forward to offering the HTC HD7S, which will come with the Mango update in the not too distant future.

Bradley said… “Mango will be the next event. With the timing of when [Windows Phone] came out and the timing of Mango, it didn’t leave a natural period in between when we could introduce an interim round of devices. We’re working very, very actively with the ecosystem and Microsoft.”

Furthermore AT&T apparently has plans to change their policy that stops Android handsets from installing non Android Market applications, with the first step being the enabling of the Amazon Appstore.
