Bloomberg: Microsoft Paying Nokia Over $1 Billion Over 5 Years

Bloomberg is reporting and citing its own sources regarding the recent Nokia-Microsoft tie-up and stating that Nokia stands to gain over a billion dollars over a period of more than five years for becoming one of Microsoft’s biggest hardware partners and subsequently shifting its strategy from Symbian and MeeGo to Windows Phone 7, with the first devices slated for late this year.

This contrasts with previous statements given by CEO Stephen Elop who declined to give an exact figure in terms of investment for choosing Windows Phone 7 during its MWC keynote, only stating that it was “in the billions” of dollars for the deal.
