Protext Mobility, Inc., a developer of innovative messaging applications and trusted solutions for the mobile communications market, today announced its DriveAlert distracted driving solution is now available for Android smartphones (with Blackberry release mid-August). To combat the serious issue of distracted driving, DriveAlert automatically detects when a smartphone user is driving and sets the phone into ‘DriveAlert’ mode. Once the service is activated, it blocks access to text messages, e-mails, phone calls and applications while the phone is in motion and sends an auto-reply to incoming text messages, helping drivers keep their attention on the road. The solution features an override button allowing access to all phone functions in an emergency situation or if the user is a passenger. Parents can choose to be notified by text and/or email when an override occurs.
“We are pleased to announce the availability of DriveAlert, the newest addition to our product suite that addresses the under-penetrated yet rapidly emerging distracted driving segment within the mobile communications space,” says Robert Mumford, Vice President of Sales and Strategic Partnerships.
