No Windows Phone 7 for Sony Ericsson Yet

Anyone been wondering why Sony Ericsson hasn’t snapped up Microsoft’s new operating system Windows Phone 7 for future SE devices? Well we have a little info on that matter for you today.

According to an article over on Ubergizmo, French blog Le Journal du Geek, had one of their bloggers at CES 2011 and said blogger spoke to a couple of Sony Ericsson reps, asking about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play PlayStation phone and about the lack of Windows Phone 7 on Sony Ericsson devices.

Obviously the first question was quickly answered by a ”no comment” but on the Windows Phone 7 front the reps where more forthcoming and apparently said that the reason they haven’t pushed out a Windows Phone 7 device is because it lacks customisability.

Apparently Sony Ericsson doesn’t wish to simply put out “just another WP7 phone.” So if true it is highly unlikely we’ll be seeing a Sony Ericsson Windows Phone 7 reasonable soon unless they can find a way round customising the user interface to suit their requirements.

So there it is, Sony Ericsson can’t make a Windows Phone 7 device to their specific customisation so it’s not on the cards. Would any of our readers be interested in a Sony Ericsson branded WP7 device if they did push one out?
